Sneak peak of some art for the show...

You asked to see what I've been up to these past few weeks.....
You've seen my jeans covered in paint at the grocery store. I drop off my kids at school in flip flops and old tshirts. And I've been a bit of a hermit on the social front. It's because we are having our party in two days. Have you seen my house???? My husband is sick!!! My kids have activities tonight!!! .... but it's all good. The newest pieces are not to be seen until Friday. I painted some fun pieces that are simple (black and white) with song lyrics. Normally I work with colors (hence the turquoise paint brush in the photo below... my favorite color). But I was ready to do something new. I hope you can all stop by. And for those of you who live far away, or have to work that day, or are volunteering at school... I am hoping to start selling my art on line this fall/winter. I will keep you posted on how that is going to work. In the meantime, just a few fun, colorful pieces I thought I'd share with you...Better Together... This is a song I wrote about my family (or yours) and how as we grow old it's just better together. It has meaning to different people depending on where you are in life, your relationships and your past. This piece is a 36x36" canvas. The colors are greys and blues. When I read it I almost always tear up. Because it's really a dream of how I wish my life would turn out. Enjoy...

Cowgirl Ways.... This piece is a 6x12" with a shimmery cowboy hat and some words of inspiration on life. My dad was from Prosser, WA and that makes me an official Cowboy's daughter. We grew up listening to The Kingston Trio and Merle Haggard and Johnny Cash. Far cry from my new favs... Kid Rock and Bret Michaels! I think we all have a little cowgirl in us. Country roots. Big hearts. A longing for the good ol days...

I love this poem from Ralph Waldo Emerson about Success. It is so true. I am not sure I need to say more. It's a small canvas (5x5, I believe), but the words are big and powerful...

This is one I made for Brooke's friend Ally B., who we just spent the weekend with. It is not for sale, but there might be one or two like it if I stay up really late tonight and paint them. The glitter got a little out of control on the stems of the flowers... but I know she will love it regardless. I love the message. It's how I feel about a lot of my friends....

As many of you know, I am going on a Mission trip to Mexico this summer. I really needed a "sign" sent my way telling me it was the right thing to do. The sign that came my way actually said... REPLACE FEAR OF THE UNKNOWN WITH CURIOSITY. It was on the blog, http://www.lalalovelythings.blogspot.com/ (check it out.... I love that blog!). That was my deciding factor that I needed to go... and now I can't wait. After I gave them my final "yes" on the trip, I looked above my computer and there sits a small print that says... GOD, GIVE ME GUTS! - Eli Mygatt. It's been there the whole time! I had to make a few little, tiny canvases for those of you that might need some "guts" in life....

That's it for now.... the rest will have to be a surprise!
We hope to see you Friday.
-Tracy
